For Parents
Don`t limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time.
- Rabindranath Tagore

Young children whose parents read them five books a day enter kindergarten having heard about 1.4 million more words than kids who were never read to, a new study has found.

This 'million-word gap' could be one key in explaining differences in vocabulary and reading development, said Jessica Logan, lead author of the study and assistant professor of educational studies at The Ohio State University.

Another study indicates that good reading ability results in good mathematical, analytical, and creative abilities which finally results in success in adulthood. One of the common habits of Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and other CEOs is that they read a lot of books. It means that reading should be a prime focus for students as early as possible to inculcate it as a habit.

While working with children, we found that children seldom read books other than textbooks. That is why they have a poor vocabulary and a poor understanding of their surroundings.

Children`s newspaper Student Edge has been created to give an extra edge to your child. Student Edge is designed in a colourful and visually appealing format to attract young readers. We want students to know what is happening around them and understand how it will affect them and humanity in the future. We want to develop students who can speak on these issues in large forums like Greta Thunberg who spoke in the UN on climate change.

Student Edge wants to make students critical thinkers who could identify biased reporting and not get excited by propaganda news. Student Edge wants to make students creative who could extrapolate a news item to a dream to live on Mars like Elon Musk. Student Edge wants to make reading a national habit.

Student Edge, though designed for students, is equally useful for parents. It makes you a knowledgeable parent of the 21st century.

Subscribe to Student Edge today for a joyride of knowledge forever!!!
